Concept design is the first stage of the design process, in which the broad outlines of spatial function and form are articulated. It is usually prepared in response to a project brief that outlines the requirements. Concept design is the initial big picture design stage and demonstrates what problems the product will solve, how it will solve them and what it feels like solving them.

Concept design outcomes present strategic solutions for movement patterns, functional layouts, atmosphere, materiality, image branding and furniture, through sketches, drawings and moodboards.
